Today, 8th December 2017: The new swell’s already in. It looks like as if we will have a really good surf session throughout the entire weekend. The peak will be expected on Saturday. We’ve been really busy the last 2 weekends, since we re-opened for the new season. We were packed with lessons that our students already pre-booked in advance.
Every day at the moment we are running classes, no matter weekdays or weekends. It’s great to see “old” faces from the previous years and meet up new faces who want to become engaged with surfing as well. The respond and feedback we get shows us that we are on the right track to share our passion with everybody who wanna try and find out about the feeling of riding waves.
For those who are still uncertain if you should come over or not, just give it a try! Never try, never know. And even if it will be just a one time experience, the memory nobody can take away from you. If you get hooked up with this sport, better prepare yourself for a life finding every possible gap to escape to the seaside.

The Monsoon season 2017/2018 has officially started a few weeks ago. Small swells are already hitting the coast of Malaysia, what is normal for the early season. Whereby there will be lots of small waves, what is really good for beginners that have never surfed before. Cheratingpoint surf school officially opened back on 13th November 2017 . This weekend looking good. We’re hoping to be blessed again with lots of good swells and good times this monsoon season.
Cheratingpoint has been established in 2008, the oldest surf school in Cherating and by now as well the biggest one in Malaysia. Our instructors are well trained and willed to share their own surfing knowledge with you. We make an adventure out of your first surfing experience and while being professional at the same time we don’t miss out on the fun part. Even after your lesson you can hang out with us and get the village vibes! Sharing is caring and if we can make you smile at the end of the day our job is done. Cheratingpoint surf school introduces our new surf package at Ku Mimi Cablet, formerly known as “Mimis Guest House and Lilo’s”. This package is good for those who want to have the “all inclusive deal” – surf lessons + accommodation + 3 meals per day. Nothing to worry about anymore…just surf, the rest will be arranged for you!
Breakfast will be at LOCA Cafe before your surf lessons every morning. It comes along with a standard western breakfast with freshly grounded coffee. Who wouldn’t mind to have a good coffee early in the morning! After that you will proceed for your first surf lesson (theory and awareness) before you will hit the water.
Lunch and dinner will be arranged at Ku Mimi Cablet for you…some local tasty food. Special menu requests can be ordered in advance (e.g. Vegetarian etc.).
If you will be coming in a group with a minimum of 4 people we can arrange your lunch as well directly on the beach if the weather is suitable (picnic).

This Monsoon-Season we are welcoming German-born but now Bali-national Olli Fraenkel.
Fraenkel is Bali’s leading graffiti artist, whose forte is large oil murals and provocative
mixed media collages. Olli’s company asie.one has taken him all around Asia, designing
and painting large scale wall murals for high end restaurants, bars and other creative venues.
Many of his works created are also surf related and can be purchased this Monsoon at
our place.Limited edition hand signed prints on art paper, fins and other fresh artworks.

The monsoon season has already come to an end and as we all know good times never last long……Cheratingpoint surf school is officially closed for the season 2016/2017 since the first week of March. It was a really good season for us and we hope our customers can say that as well about their surf experience with Cheratingpoint. The most consistent wave period was during December and January. Thank you again to all our customers and surf students for signing up with us. We tried to make the best out of your surf lessons even during hard weather conditions and some had the right timing to enjoy grilling sessions with the locals as well. This is the trademark of Cherating, mostly everything happens spontaneously and the best sessions and parties are never planned in advance.
At the moment we still receive a lot of emails and phone calls from people who wanna learn to surf. Too bad guys, but March-October is the off season for surfing in Malaysia. Please try to come during November – March. We will start to take bookings from August onwards. Would be great to have you guys with us all year round but mother nature is only offering us waves during monsoon season which lasts from “NOVEMBER-MARCH IN MALAYSIA”.
For the travellers who are visiting Cherating during the summer season (April-October), enjoy your time here and if you are keen on riding some waves one day please come back during monsoon. We are looking forward to have all of you guys here, our longterm customers and new faces to the scene as well. Meanwhile take it easy and have a good time whatever you do. It’s Saturday 25th February 2017 and it seems to be flat again. Has been 2 days now lay day and it looks like as if the new swell is picking up again by tomorrow or the latest by monday. The last swell was really good and we have surfed it to the maximum. Everyday during this period we had lots of students and our daily lessons in the morning and afternoon were really fun for them.
Looks like as if the new swell, accordingly to the forecast, will last through the weekdays and weekend. As for those who are planing to come 27th Feb to 5th of March…please come over. Our surf school will be open till the first week of March and will be closing after that. Next weekend will be our last corner before we gonna pack our stuff and say good bye to the monsoon. Please book now as we still have slots and rooms till 1st week of March.

This morning’s surf was really fun. Cherating 1st point was a good 4 foot, clean, glassy and barreling during low to mid tide. Definitely the best session at 1st point in a couple of years. Wave condition is better today now that the wind has backed off slightly. Yesterday’s surf was really fun too with overhead sets and strong current! It’s been a great week of swell so far everyone!

The swell condition for this weekend looks to be mellowing down and will be perfect for surf lessons! Here’s some photos of our students having loads of fun last week and the previous week. It looks like we are already headed towards the tail end of this season’s monsoon so book your lessons with us now to enjoy the waves. For this season Christmas, New year’s and Chinese New Year have passed by. And it’s already February by now! Time flies and we had a great time. Nevertheless at the moment we are in between swells again. This coming weekend 11-12th February 2017 the forecast looks like as if there’s going to be a good swell arriving. For sure plenty of surf action you can get at Cherating neither for the beginners or anyone that knows how to surf.
Last week was Chinese New Year and Cheratingpoint surf school/Matahari guest house had been really busy for about 10 days in a row. Lots of students, plenty of guests who were having fun during that festive week and the swell was lasting for quite some time. We had lots of good surf sessions during the morning and lessons were running classes for the whole 10 days. Lots of fun surf, Party and as well grilling season. Kampung Cherating Lama has been really busy during these days.
So before monsoon’s and the surf season’s gonna end, better make up your mind if you want to come over for a short weekend getaway to experience the kampung and surf life here. One single wave can offer you a ride up to 300 meters and it will be a memory you won’t forget for sure!
