2015 is about to end and we hope all our customers had a good one & are looking forward positively to a new one ahead! It was a really good year for us at Cheratingpoint surf School. The number of our students is meanwhile increasing every year. Big thank’s to the “Cherating boys – our surf instructors” who are giving 200% of their effort to teach all our students in a satisfying way, who come here to experience the Malaysian surfing scene.
The current swell is picking up now everyday and during the New Year’s celebration we are expecting a lot of surfers in the village throughout the weekend.
Thank’s to everyone for the support & we hope to see a lot of our students next year again, continuing to practise their surfing skills.
So there’s only left to say…Happy New Year to everyone! Have fun and respect each other in and outside the water! Cheers to 2016…

Christmas Weekend’s Surf session with our Student.
Earlier this year, in January 2015 Cheratingpoint Surf school organised their first event. It was called 1st Edition Malaysia Surf Festival 2015 – “Cheratingpoint Cup 2015”, associated with JKK Kampung Cherating, good Friends, local and international surfing brands at Cherating Beach, Kuantan Malaysia.
The event took place for 2 days, with really good swell conditions for Cherating. Its was an invitational event and selected local “heroes” from Kuala Terengganu, Pulau Kapas, Kemaman, Cherating, Kuantan, Johor , Pulau Tioman, Pulau Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur and also some surfers from Singapore and Japan took part in the competition. It was divided into a Men’s, Women’s, Longboard’s, Bodyboard’s and Grommet’s division. Over all we had almost 60 Participants for this small scale event.
The main motive for the event is to support the Malaysian surf community, Cherating Village and as well to attract local and international tourists to visit Cherating as it’s a well known surf destination in Malaysia from November until March. Not to say, that the government/Tourism of Pahang doesn’t support such events – yes they do! But the people that run the event so far didn’t make it right!
It started with the beach cleaning program, one day before the event took place at Eco bar and 3rd Point Beach Chalet .Thank you to all that have supported the beach cleaning program and we need to continue this kind of gathering in the future to keep our environment at Cherating Beach clean and healthy. We have the opportunity and duty to create an awareness in the people’s mind. Thank you to Encik Musadeq for the Tea and Nasi lemak meals for the people who were involved on that day.
We kicked off early in the morning with a small breakfast directly at the contest site. Thank you to Mak The and Pak The family who runs the Matahari Guest House. They were preparing the breakfast and lunch for the participants and helpers during the 2 days Cheratingpoint Cup 2015 event which was provided by the event organisers. Our first round started at 8.30 a.m. and was running smooth until 1.30 p.m. On day one we completed round 1 for the Men’s, Women’s, Bodyboarder’s, Grommet’s and long boarder’s division.
During the evening we had a Bbq session at Eco Bar for the contestants, officials and marshals. Thank you as well to Lila Wadi Restaurant and Kula Cakes for sponsoring the Bbq and grilling gathering. Later on there was also a bourn fire provided for those who wanted to hang out a bit longer. Not just the participants were there, mostly all the people who were more or less involved or just interested villagers and friends. A so called evening for the community! We also provided some canopies for the local villagers where they could sell their homemade food, snacks and some local merchandise products to the guests during this 2 days event. Thank god the weather and swell conditions for this weekend were absolutely great! Cause you never know how it’s gonna be – Monsoon is always there to surprise you!!!
Day 1 action photos can be found here, as we mostly update on our Facebook page:

We kicked off at 8.30 a.m. as well on the second day. The conditions were high tide in the morning and once the tide dropped the waves got better and better. So the performances especially in the long boarder’s and men’s division were pretty awesome and the crowd was stoked to watch it. Due to these good conditions we decided to make a 30 minutes final men’s round. That was definitely the highlight of the event and everybody was supporting it by being at the beach during that time. The spirit of community was there!

The prize giving took place at Eco Bar Rahnapipin. At 4.00pm was the ceremony started. Even the Chief of the village came over to hold a speech and gave out some prizes. Lots of people, locals and tourists, joined and gave their support. At this point we would like to say thank you one more time to all the sponsors, the media and the volunteers. Without all of them we could have never made it happen! And so we are working hard on it to realise the 2nd edition for the next Monsoon season to let the seed grow…
